Deborah Jowitt moderates a screening of the documentary, Check Your Body At The Door (2012). At the time of this recording, the documentary was still considered to be a work in progress. Jowitt speaks with Sally Sommer, a dance historian and the film’s producer, as well as two of the documentary’s featured dancers, Archie Burnett and Brahms LaFortune. They discuss the differences between underground and commercial dance clubs, Burnett’s role as the documentary’s narrator, Sommer’s inspiration to document the underground club scene, and each speaker’s introduction to dance.
